Inquiry Planning - Term 4

This term you will be working on an inquiry project of your own choice!  Yay!  We will be following the same structure as our previous projects, Click here to see the format for your inquiry project.  You will be able to work on this in your own time and on a Day 1 and Day 6 in class.

To do list:

1.  Submit your Inquiry Brainstorming document through the Google classroom
2.  By the end of today you must have emailed your mentor with your driving question and you four key questions
3.  Have created a folder in your google drive called TERM FOUR INQUIRY
4.  Started researching your inquiry.

Research planning

Think about different ways that you can collect information - the internet is not the only source!

a)  Library time - find books, magazines that will support you understanding more information about your inquiry topic
b) Create a survey that you can send out to different groups of people - YOU MUST ENSURE THAT THIS IS CHECKED BY A TEACHER BEFORE YOU SEND IT!

c)  Plan an interview and contact an expert - it can sometimes take a while for people to get back to you - so the earlier you can send your questions to someone the better!

d)  Conduct an interview

e)  Continue to gather secondary sources

Important notices from today

Marking
Over the next few days your mentors will be meeting with you all to finalise any of your mahi (work) that you may not have submitted through the classroom.  Remember that your mentors are not Mind readers - and if you have not shared your Document, we can't actually read it or know where to find it!

Incomplete or Not submitted work
This will result in your mentors contacting home to 'invite' you to come to Homework club to complete.  Homework club is Tuesday and Thursday from 3 - 5.00pm

Resubmissions
If you are not happy with your grade and want to improve it - you have one week to update and re-submit to your mentor for marking.

Attendance
This will be our arotahi (focus) for this term.  I need to have notes/emails from your parents to confirm any absences.  Last term we had 3 days where EVERY student was in class.  Lets work on that and 'raise the bar' ladies.  We have 10 weeks of term to prove that we are the BEST whanau class in the school for fabulous attendance!  Lets do this!

Inquiry Research - Task one

Made with Padlet

Term 4 Inquiry

This term you will be doing an inquiry on a topic of your choice.

You will be working by yourself on a topic that interests and inspires you!

Go to google classroom, you will find a document called "Brainstorming inquiry ideas".

Your task for today is to complete this document. This activity is to help you look at a range of possible inquiry topics so that you choose the BEST one for you.

You have the choice to do your inquiry planning in a printed workbook.

This term you will co-construct the due dates for different sections of your inquiry process. Make sure you have a look at your calendar to ensure that you know what you have on this term!
